Thinking about leaving work early...

Well, since I am not due until July, I always thought that I would not have a problem making it to the end of the school year, but lately being on my feet all day has really been taking a toll on me. By the end of the day, my legs and feet are so swollen and discolored (redish/purple) that I am miserable. I went to the doctor today and she told me that everything else looks good (blood pressure, weight gain, protein levels, etc), so I don't really need to stop working, but if I am uncomfortable and miserable, she will write me out of work whenever I feel like it is too much for me. I almost wish that she would have said "You need to stop working on X day, or at X amount of weeks" because now the decision is pretty much in my hands and I am feeling so guilty about the possibility of not finishing out the school year and being there to prepare my students for their exams. Part of me feels like it is not really necessary to stop working so soon, but then I also feel like I'm not really sure I'm going to be able to make it until the end of the school year.

more girl dreams...

Well, I'm really starting to feel like maybe this baby is a girl. This morning when he woke up, Joe told me that he had a dream that we had a girl, so between my dreams, his dreams, and just the "gut feeling" that I've been having lately, I'm feeling some pretty strong "girl vibes". Who knows though? It could change a million times between now and when I have the baby. It will be interesting to see how it all works out.

bought first cloth diapers!

Well, I have officially decided that I am going to try out using cloth diapers. I was inspired at our last Nest GTG because two of the girls there are using them, and showed me what modern cloth diapers are all about. I've been doing some research on my own about all of the different types/brands out there and all that I can say is wow! I had no idea that there were so many different options for cloth diapers out there.
So today, I went to Home Grown Baby and the girl there was really nice and showed me all of the different types of diapers that they sell and spent a lot of time talking to me about all of the "ins and outs" of cloth diapering. I bought two different diapers to show off to my family, a BumGenius 3.0, and a MotherEase. It's really neat because they are "one-size" diapers, which means that depending on how you fold/snap them, they can be used for really little babies, and then all the way up to 35 lbs. I just think that is so cool! HaHa, I am such a dork that I am this excited about diapers! Now I can't wait to buy more! :)

progress on baby's room!

The room is finally starting to look more like an actual bedroom and not just a storage facility! We had the carpet installed yesterday and it looks great. Joe was so excited when he came home and saw it that he decided to set up the bouncy seat. :) So he took it out of the box and put it together and now we have a cute little bouncy seat sitting in the corner. It makes it all seem so much more real. In a few months we will have a baby to put in that little seat! Wow! :)

First girl dreams

Well, up to this point in my pregnancy, I have been feeling pretty strongly that the baby is a boy. But this past week I have had a few dreams about having a girl and it made me start to think that maybe I'm having a girl. So now I'm more confused than ever and don't really feel like I have a strong feeling about if I will have a boy or a girl. I guess we will just have to wait and see....

Ordered the crib

I feel like we are really starting to make progress. Yesterday I finished registering and today we went and ordered the crib. It's a white legacy crib and has a drop side to make it easier to get the baby in and out. It also has the option to convert to the toddler bed if we buy the rail. I'm not sure if we will do that since we plan on having more than one baby and want to be able to use the same crib, but it's nice to have the option.

registered!

Well, I finally got my act together and registered. Joe and I went on Sunday to pick out some of the big stuff like the stroller, pack & play, etc. Then today my mom, sister, and grandma came with me to finish with all the little stuff. It was really fun to pick out the stuff, but a little overwhelming. There is so much to choose from, and just tons of stuff in general. It was a little crazy having 3 people there with me, but we still had fun!

passed the one hour glucose test

Yesterday I went for my 1 hour glucose test. I had to drink this gross orange sugary drink and then they took blood to test my sugar levels. Luckily everything looked good and I don't have to go back to have the 3 hour test. I would hate to have to sit around for 3 hours - 1 was bad enough!

seeing the baby move from the outside (26 weeks)

This week I have actually seen the baby moving - it's pretty crazy! The baby tends to be active in the evening when I'm laying on the couch or laying in bed, and a couple times I have actually seen little ripple like movement on my belly. It's unbeleivable. I love feeling the little one move around in there! :)

found baby bedding

Today my sister and I went to Marshall's with the intent of buying some new shoes. Well, I didn't find any shoes, but ended up finding a really cute bedding set. It's so cute and the best part is it was about half the price of the ones at Babies R Us. It's "Silver Lining" bedding by Kidsline. I bought the 6 piece set that comes with the quilt, bumper, dust ruffle, sheets, diaper stacker, and window valance. I think it will go really nicely with the green color that the room is right now, so it will be nice not to have to repaint. I'm going to try to find the wallpaper border and wall hangings online because I think the room in the picture looks to cute :)

Joe felt the baby kick!

Finally! I think that he probably could have felt it a few weeks ago if he would have been patient enough, but he never just sits there with his hand on my belly for long periods of time, so the timing was never quite right. But finally last night while we were watching the Sabres game the baby was really active, so when he put his hand on my tummy he felt a kick right away. It was cute he said "Was that him (he's convinced it's a boy) kicking, or was that you?". I don't know how he thought I could make my stomach move like that on my own - LOL! So it finally happened - yay! :)
