belly rubbing!

So this was the first "non-family member" belly touching so far. It really didn't freak me out that much though because she was so sweet about it. It was one of the girls in my 10th grade honors classes and she was so cute about it when she asked. She was so smiley and just said "Can I touch your belly? do you think I can feel the baby moving?". So I just went with it and said "go ahead, but I don't think you will feel anything since I haven't even felt the baby yet". So she just gave my belly a little rub and said "awww..." and gave me this sweet little smile. It was actually really cute. I'm sure I may feel differently down the road when it's other people touching my belly, especially if they don't ask first. But as for today, I thought it was kind of sweet! :)

17 weeks belly pic

17 weeks pregnant - I love my baby belly! :)

Another boy dream!

Well, I had another dream about having a boy last night. This was probably about the third or fourth one, so I'm wondering if that means anything??? But this one was really weird. We were at the doctor's office for the ultrasound, and then somehow all of a sudden I just had the baby. I don't remember anything in the dream about the actual birth process, but all of a sudden he was sitting there on the table. And he was huge - didn't look like a newborn at all. And I'm pretty sure he was fully clothed too. VERY strange! And I was freaking out because we didn't have anything and weren't prepared at all, we didn't even have a carseat to take him home and didn't have any names picked out. Well, somehow we borrowed a carseat from the doctor's office, and on the way home we decided to name him Reese (not like the candy, but rhyming with "Greece"). Now where did that name come from?! And I think about that point I woke up. SO weird!

Next sonogram on Valentine's Day

I forgot to mention that we scheduled the "big" ultrasound for Thursday. Since we decided that we aren't going to find out if it's a boy or a girl, I guess that I'm not quite as anxious as some people would be. But I'm still so excited! The last time I had an ultrasound the baby looked more like a gummy bear! So it will be so exciting to see how much things have changed. I can't wait! And it's nice that it's on Valentine's Day because it gives both Joe and I an excuse to take some time off of work and spend some time together. Yay!! I am counting the minutes!!

Good news! False alarm for Gestational Diabetes

Today I had my regular monthly check up and so I got to talk to the doctor more about this gestational diabetes issue. Well, aparently the whole thing is a big mistake since no one told me that I needed to fast before I went and had the bloodwork. So now I need to go have yet another set of bloodwork done! (more needles - YUCK!) This time I can't eat or drink anything from 10:00 the night before and then they will check out my levels. So, that's a big relief! I'm just kind of annoyed that someone gave me the wrong information about the first set of bloodwork and made me worry without reason. And, now I have to go be pricked with needles again - ugh!

High Glucose levels?

Well, I just got a call from the doctor's office telling me that I have high glucose levels, so they are referring me to an endocrinoligist, whatever that is. They said that the level was a 126 and ideally it should be below 100, so I may have gestational diabetes :( I don't really know a lot about gestational diabetes, but I guess I would have to be on a restricted diet and really watch what I eat. So now I have a doctor's appointment scheduled for March 6th, which seems so far away. I don't want to be in limbo wondering what the heck is going on, so when I go for my regular monthly appointment tomorrow, I am going to ask them to contact the endocrinoligst's office and tell them that I need to be seen sooner. Hopefully I will be able to get all of this straightend out pretty soon because not knowing exactly what is going on will drive me crazy!

The Secret is Out!

Well, I FINALLY told everyone at work that I am pregnant! I guess it wasn't really too much of a surprise though. Most of the people in my department said something along the lines of "well, we've all been suspecting for a while now..." Hmm...I guess it wasn't really that big of a secret after all.My students were so cute when I told them. We played hangman in Spanish and the kids were so cute, they were all so excited. They all yelled 'yay' or 'wow', or something like it and in one class they all clapped for me - it was so sweet! The most common reaction was "we knew it. we've been talking about it for weeks, but we didn't want to ask you!" So I guess that there is no denying that I am showing already. I didn't really think that it would happen this early (14 weeks), but I guess maybe since I am small, maybe that could have something to do with it. I'm glad that it's finally all out in the open now so I don't have to avoid talking about it and try to cover up this growing belly! Now I don't have to worry about people thinking that I am just getting fat!

Chickened out...

Well I was going to finally tell people at work that I am pregnant, but I just chickened out! I don't know why, but I just couldn't do it. Part of me just wanted to wait until after the doctor's appointment on Monday so that I can hear the heartbeat one more time and be absolutely sure that everything is still fine. I'm just going to have to get over it and tell people, because at this rate if I keep putting it off, it will be the end of the school year before I tell people!
