SO itchy!!!

So, lately my belly and my boobs are SO itchy!! This is new within the past week or so and it's really driving me nuts. I'm sure it's just because my skin is pretty much streched to the max right now, but I just can't deal with this constant itchiness - I'm miserable. I've tried everything that I can think of. I have a few different pregnancy products that are all supposed to help prevent strechmarks and itchiness, but nothing seems to help the itchiness. :( The good news is that I don't have strech marks yet (knock on wood!!)

crib is put together!

Yay! The baby's room is starting to come together. Joe set the crib up today and we put all the bedding on it, so it's starting to actually look like a baby's room!! Unfortunately, the dresser is on backorder, so it's not going to be here before baby. :( It looks like it will be mid August before it gets here, so the room won't acutally be "done" before the baby gets here. That's okay though, the baby will be sleeping in the bassinet in our room for the first little bit anyways. So I'm trying not to stress that the room won't be done.

Here's another 35 week pic. I saw a pic like this in someone else's maternity pics and thought it was really cute. :)

shower at work today

Today I had my shower at work and it was really nice. There are three of us that are all due sometime over the summer, so it was a combined shower for all of us. It was nice to go back and see people - I definitely miss the "social" aspect of work, and I do miss my students. I don't miss the work aspect of it though, and being on my feet all day. I am so happy that I wasn't there for the heat wave that we have been having - I know that I would have been miserable.
So, I got a lot of cute stuff at the shower - a few toys, some books, some sippy cups and bowls, and some adorable outfits. I was so excited to get clothes since I barely got anything at my shower for friends and family. And then I also got a very generous gift card for Babies R Us that will definitely come in handy down the line. I think I am going to try to save it so that we can use it to buy the bigger car seat when we need it. It will be nice not to have to come up with that money out of pocket.

Wow - 35 weeks today!

Time is really flying by. I thought that it was going to start to feel like it was dragging by at this point, but I still feel like it's going really fast and now everything is starting to feel SO real. One of my close friends at work had her baby at 35 weeks, so that kind of freaks me out. I feel like it could be any time now, and soon I am going to have an actual baby - wow! Of course with thinking like that I'll probably end up being overdue! lol :)

took childbirth classes

Today we took our childbirth classes. It was an all-day event that was scheduled for 9-5. Of course we were running late in the morning and so we didn't end up getting there until around 9:30. It wasn't that big of a deal though, the only thing that we missed was the part where everyone went around the room and introduced themselves. So it really was not that big of a loss. Overall the class was pretty good, but I felt like a lot of it I already knew and some of it was a bit repetitive and redundant. But there was definitely a lot of good information and so I feel somewhat more prepared and like I know more what to expect now. But...I am also now starting to freak out a little bit more about the actual labor part of this process. I am such a wimp when it comes to pain, so I am definitely very scared! Up until this point I have just tried not to think too much about the actual process of giving birth, but now that it's getting closer, there is really no avoiding it anymore -eek!

SO hot and uncomfortable!

Ugh, it was close to 90 today and the heat was brutal. I spent most of the day sitting in the bedroom since we have an air conditioner in there, because I couldn't even stand to be in the rest of the house. Not the most exciting day, but I did manage to get all of the Thank You cards done from my shower, so that was at least something accomplished. I have a feeling that for the next month or so, I will be spending a lot of time sitting in my bedroom with the A/C or outside in the pool (once we finally get around to opening it!)

33 weeks

Here I am at 33 weeks. Everyone at my shower kept saying how small I looked. Haha - they must not have seen the side view of me. I guess that black really is a slimming color because I feel anything but small!

my shower was today!

I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning. I woke up at 5:30 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep because I was so excited about the shower. I was even having dreams about it. :) I felt like a little kid on Christmas morning!
The shower was really nice. We got a ton of stuff from our registry - everyone was very generous! Of course I got emotional and cried, but that was to be expected. Scott and Charnell bought us the swing, and when I opened the card and saw that it was from them I cried like a baby. I really wasn't expecting to have anything from them at the shower since I knew there was no way that Charnell would come all the way from Texas, so I thought it was so sweet that they sent something and it made me miss my brother! I think everyone thought I was nuts! No one in Joe's family could figure out why I was crying, they all thought that my brother must have some sort of terminal disease or something with the way that I was carrying on! That's what the pregnancy hormones will do to you - I'm an emotional wreck! Then I cried again when I saw some little sweaters and hats that my grandma made for me - they are just so cute and I can't wait to be able to put the baby in them.
So overall, it was a very nice day. The one thing that really surprised me is that I got almost NO CLOTHES. I'm not complaining at all, but I was just really shocked! I've heard people say that you won't get many clothes if you don't know the sex of the baby, but I was shocked when I didn't receive even one outfit! I think I got a few packs of onesies, and of course the sweaters that grandma made me, but other than that no clothes at all. We got tons of stuff from our registry though - everyone was very generous! And no duplicates at all, so that was awesome! :) We pretty much got everything that we need, except for the crib mattress and baby bathtub, so I'm going to go to BRU later in the week to pick those up with our gift cards and maybe pick up a few outfits while I'm there! :)
